Our students thrive by learning anytime, anywhere and with anyone.

ICAS 2024

Year 3-6 students at Merrylands East have the opportunity to take part in the 2024 International Competitions and Assessment for Schools (ICAS). This is an optional activity. For over 20 years ICAS has taken place each year in schools throughout Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, the Pacific Islands and South Africa.

All students receive a certificate and an individual student results letter indicating which questions they answered correctly. It also highlights strengths and weaknesses.

There are four categories and each assessment has a fee of $19.95; Digital Technologies, English, Science and Mathematics.

If you would like your child to participate, all registrations can only be completed and paid for online.

The parent page link is:

https://www.icasassessments.com/shop

You must use the search engine Chrome.

Click on “Buy as a parent”  then click “Yes” Directly below the yes box is “Click here to purchase ICAS”.  Do not go further down the page as this is the purchase practice  tests section.  Then enter the school access code.    Our school access code is:   RKY577   Click Login.

The new safe and respectful schools posters

This term, our school is part of an initiative to strengthen respect for all our students and staff. The Addressing Occupational Violence campaign is being launched with posters that remind everyone to always treat our students and staff with kindness and respect, and that aggressive behaviour of any type will not be tolerated at school.

We value our partnerships with you to support every student to learn, grow, and belong. It is up to us – the school and the parent-body - to be good respectful role models to our students. Together, we can create a safe and harmonious environment for our students and staff

Please join us in supporting this work to create a positive change. Check out the new posters at school and if you have any questions or would like to discuss further, please make contact with the principal.

Have a look around our school with our school leaders as your guides. This tour video and the orientation slideshow below will help you prepare your child for this new exciting year.
