Learn anytime, anywhere and with anyone.

Our school is overflowing with beautiful outdoor spaces and quiet learning environments allowing our students the opportunity to learn anytime, anywhere and with anyone.

A year at our school

There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.

Harmony Day

Each year, we joyfully celebrate Harmony Day, with students and teachers proudly wearing traditional cultural attire or vibrant orange. This special day promotes inclusiveness and respect, reminding us that, regardless of our backgrounds, we are united by core Australian values. Our students always embrace the spirit, creating an unforgettable celebration!

Kindergarten Teddy Bear's Picnic

Kindergarten parents and carers are warmly invited to the Kindergarten Teddy Bear's Picnic each year. Students delight in sharing their morning tea with their friends and their beloved teddy bears, creating joyful memories. This cherished tradition always brings excitement and happiness to Kindergarten and their teachers!

Anzac Day

We take immense pride in our students for their respectful and attentive behaviour during our school’s Anzac Day service. Each year, our student leaders honour the occasion by representing Merrylands East at the local Anzac Day Dawn Service, laying a wreath to commemorate the sacrifices made by those who served.

Book Week

Book Week is a cherished event at our school, dedicated to celebrating the joy of reading. Throughout the week, students will engage in a variety of fun activities, culminating in our much-anticipated annual Book Character Parade. Both teachers and students delight in crafting imaginative costumes inspired by their favourite books. We can't wait to see the creativity and enthusiasm on display!

Sydney Writers' Festival

Each year,  our Year 6 students have the wonderful opportunity to attend the Sydney Writer’s Festival at the Sydney Town Hall. They enjoy listening to a fantastic lineup of authors, where they learn valuable writing techniques. It is always an inspiring day that encourages our students to explore their own creativity and love for writing.

'Our Spectacular'

Our choir and dance troupe have the incredible opportunity to perform each year at the iconic Sydney Opera House during 'Our Spectacular,' a prestigious event that showcases the talent of students from over 40 schools across the Auburn, Strathfield, and Merrylands Education Networks. This remarkable experience allows our students to share the stage with their peers, fostering a sense of community and collaboration through the arts.

Stage 3 experiences

Stage 3 students have the exciting opportunity to participate in a trip to our nation's capital, Canberra, or attend an exhilarating camp every alternate year. Both experiences are enriching and provide students with valuable learning opportunities, allowing them to explore Australian history and government in Canberra or foster teamwork and outdoor skills at camp, contributing to their personal growth and development in different ways.

Student mentoring

Each year, Year 6 students at MEPS take great joy in mentoring our youngest students as they collaborate to craft stunning and imaginative hats for our annual Easter Hat Parade. This tradition not only fosters creativity and teamwork but also strengthens the bonds between the older and younger students, making the event a memorable highlight of the school year.

Author visits

We frequently host a diverse range of authors at our school, providing them with the opportunity to share their unique experiences and insights into the writing process. These engaging sessions allow students to learn about the various methods and techniques authors use to craft their stories, as well as the challenges they face in their creative journeys. Through interactive discussions and Q&A sessions, students gain a deeper understanding of the literary world and are inspired to develop their own writing skills.

Sport

We provide a wide range of sporting opportunities for all our students, from Kindergarten to Year 6, ensuring that every child can engage in physical activity each week. In collaboration with other NSW public schools, we actively participate in local, district, and regional swimming, athletics, and cross-country carnivals, fostering a spirit of competition and camaraderie. Our Stage 1 students particularly enjoy their weekly gymnastics classes, while the annual K-2 Sports Fun Day is always a highlight, filled with excitement and enthusiasm. Additionally, our PSSA teams in T-ball, softball, netball, and newcomball compete weekly against other local schools. Stage 3 students further benefit from mentorship by members of the local Club Merrylands lawn bowling community.
